Oklahoma Residency Laws.
To file for divorce in Oklahoma, either the petitioner or the respondent must have been an actual resident of the state of Oklahoma, in good faith, or a resident of any United States army post or military reservation within the State of Oklahoma, for six months immediately preceding the filing of the petition for divorce.
Filing for Divorce in Oklahoma.
The divorce should be filed in the county where the petitioner has resided for 30 days, or in the county where the respondent resides.
Serving Your Spouse with Divorce Papers .
After filing the divorce papers with the court, you "serve" your spouse by mail or hand-delivery. Formal service by process server or sheriff is not required in uncontested cases. Your spouse will sign a form stating that he or she has received the papers, and that form will be filed with the court.
Waiting Period in Oklahoma.
If there are no minor children of the marriage, the waiting period is 10 days. Your divorce can be finalized once at least 10 days pass after filing the divorce petition.If there are minor children of the marriage, the waiting period is 90 days. Your divorce can be finalized once at least 90 days pass after filing the divorce petition.

Additional Information.
If you and your spouse have minor children, most courts in Oklahoma will require you and your spouse to attend an educational course about children and dealing with the effects of divorce.
