When dividing and distributing the property and debts of the parties, Hawaii law lists the following guidelines that shall be taken into consideration by a Hawaii divorce court:

1. The respective merits of the parties;

2. The relative abilities of the parties;

3. The condition in which each party will be left by the divorce, the burdens imposed upon either party for the benefit of the children of the parties; and

4. All other circumstances of the case.
